I played hooky from stewardship last night. With an extreme heat alert and the humidex approaching (or reaching?) 40, this delicate flower recognizes her limits and stays inside. Hats off to anyone who showed up. No, wait, keep your hats on if you're in the sun!

Last week we found a gypsy moth in our equipment box. No surprise, as this is where I found a lot of gypsy moth caterpillars several weeks ago. This is a male:

Dude is a bit menacing up close:

Some of our plantings from earlier in the season, coming along nicely:

Too bad, you missed the reporter from the Town Crier. You could have been a star! Actually we had a good crew, Richard, Bruce, Lise, Patti, Kalli, Cheryl, and myself. Don't worry, we saved some Tansy for you for next week :)

Well, that's a relief.

Hi!

Your photos are gorgeous!

Just out of curiosity, what kind of camera are you using? Also, what setting do you use for your outdoors photos?

Love those moth/butterfly/caterpillar pics!

Hi willy. My camera is a Fujifilm FinePix S3000, several years old now. It handles basic macro shots pretty well. For outdoor photos I use the ... point and shoot setting! To be honest, I mostly leave it on auto and let the camera figure out how to do what I'm asking it to do.
